Thank you to all of our inaugural January 2026 local Burrito Leagues!
We’ve closed our inaugural group of Burrito Leagues for January of 2026, but have now opened league applications for future expansion. If you are interested in launching a future league, please consider applying after reading the following steps!
01 | Create Segment
Create a short, publicly accessible segment on Strava. Sidewalks, paths, and short road stretches work best, ideally with no major road crossings.
Title your segment using the following structure: “City Name” Burrito League.
The segment should be:
• Safe and legal to use repeatedly
• Easy to turn around on
• Short enough to encourage repetition
In Tempe, we are using a 0.19 mile (0.3 km) one-way segment.
02 | Partner Locally
Reach out to a local Mexican restaurant or food establishment about sponsoring your Burrito League. “Burritos For A Year” (52 burritos) is a common prize.
Running stores, brands, and race companies local to your area are great to partner with as well. Gear and race entries are other common prizes.
Reach out to us if you’d like help setting up sponsors.
03 | Choose Prizes
We suggest prizes for 1st through 5th place, male and female divisions.
Reach out to us if you need any ideas.
04 | Announce League
Now it’s time to get the word out.
Use our League Launch template to create your own carousel for posting to Instagram. Don’t forget to collaborate with @burritoleague.
05 | Grow Big
The sky isn’t the limit. Actually, it is limitless.
Invite friends and local run clubs and watch your community grow. Inform pedestrians while out on segment. Use our Leaderboard template for daily updates for your socials.
